Recruitment Tips
“Trust the Process”
is a phrase that you’ll hear all throughout recruitment. At first it may seem silly but it’s a phrase that countless active members have heard in recruitment years prior… and it still rings true! We’ve included more tips below to help you make the most of your recruitment!
Be Yourself
Remember to be genuine and authentic during the recruitment process. The sororities are looking to get to know you, let your personality shine through and show your interest in being a part of the community!
Make Your Own Choices
Don’t believe everything you see or hear, online or in person. Make sure you make your decisions for yourself without external opinions. If it sounds too unreal to be true, then it probably is. All that matters is that you like the house.
Take Care of Yourself
During recruitment the days are long, it feels stressful, and the extra time commitment can be difficult especially right before starting classes. The Panhellenic Council wants you to know that taking care of yourself physically and mentally is important to staying healthy. Make sure to get enough sleep, eat healthy, and take care of your mind. The CPC and your Rho Gamma’s are here if you need to talk through your feelings!
Keep a Open Mind
Remember that in the first round you only talk to a handful of members. Chapters have over 100 members who are all unique, you may end up liking the chapter later in the process. Stay positive, all the chapters have amazing things to offer!
Take Notes
During this process you meet so many people and have so many different conversations so write down names, conversations, and anything that helps you remember the chapter. These notes will help you at the end of the round.
Do Research
All 6 chapters at the University of Utah are very diverse! Doing research about their values, philanthropies, member involvement, and other information about their chapter at the U and nationally. Make sure that you’re finding this information from reliable sources such as their national websites and official social media pages.
Ask Questions
Questions help to keep the conversation going and it’s a great way to find out more about the chapters you are interested in. Questions like, What is your favorite philanthropy event your chapter has hosted, what are your chapters values, are great ways to learn more.
Have Fun!
Remember to have fun, this is such an amazing time to meet so many new people and grow as a person!
